The interest rate the Bank of England sets. Mortgages, savings and loans all follow it. It holds its level between decisions, so the line is drawn as a step.

Total crime
Crimes against adults and households in England and Wales, counted by asking people what happened to them rather than by what was reported to the police. Excludes fraud and computer misuse so the series stays comparable back to 1981. Each point is a year ending in March.
